Building a New School With a Gymnasium? Want a Dual-Purpose Solution? Try the Lü Interactive

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]In every subject, educators are looking for solutions that will improve student engagement. That’s also true in physical education, and engagement is critical, as according to the CDC, only about one in four children (ages 6-17) get at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day. That’s the CDC’s minimum guideline, so getting kids up and active is an emerging focus for educators. The Lü Interactive can help schools in this mission, with technology and applications designed to drive student participation and increase their activity level. Here’s why the Lü Interactive makes sense for today’s students and educators:
  1. Students enthusiastically embrace new technologies - The Lü Interactive offers an experience unlike anything else, in a form that will be immediately familiar to students. Many of the applications function similarly to other educational applications, only with a physical twist. Because of this, it generally takes little effort to get students interested in what the Lü offers.
  2. More forms of engagement mean more students engaged - Physical education is different from other subjects in that it involves a tactile element that other lessons do not. With the Lü Interactive, though, your school’s gymnasium can rocket through space, dive underwater, or become an energetic dance floor. This unique combination of light, sound and movement can capture student attention in multiple ways, improving participation and effort.
  3. Lesson creation is made easy for teachers - Organizing lesson material is a major time draw for educators, and any technology that can speed it up is useful. Lü Interactive is one such technology, as it comes with an array of applications and lessons ready for use right away. This will save your physical education teachers time, which is especially valuable for educators that teach another class outside of the gymnasium.
  4. The Lü’s operation is also made easy for teachers - To be useful, educational technology must be accessible, and the Lü Interactive is designed to be as simple as possible to operate. Using a remote, the teacher can quickly navigate through the interface, select a lesson and adjust a few options, like duration. The technology never gets in the way of the experience and never slows the fun down.

What comes with the Lü Interactive?

In short, everything needed to power the Lu Interactive experience. The visuals are provided by a high definition projector, mounted to the ceiling and positioned so that it projects an image on one of the gymnasium’s walls. A 3D camera turns the projected image into an interactive surface and can detect one or more objects in contact with the image. Lights and speakers are built into a single custom enclosure, and together they provide ambient illumination and immersive sound. The Lü Interactive is available in a few models, and the included hardware differs between them. Here’s a brief look at each one:[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width="1/2"][vc_column_text]

Uno -

The Uno is the base Lü package, which includes the projector, 3D camera, and light and sound enclosure.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width="1/2"][vc_column_text]

Duo -

The Duo is double the Lü, with two projectors, two 3D cameras and two light and sound modules. The Duo can be used to pair two interactive displays together for multiplayer experiences that take advantage of the gymnasium’s space.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width="1/2"][vc_column_text]

Mobile -

The Mobile comes with five components, including a pair of light and speaker brackets, and a main module that holds the projector and 3D camera. The Mobile can be set up in just 20 minutes, breaks down small enough to fit in a van, and allows districts to share the technology between schools.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width="1/2"][vc_column_text]

Uno and Duo Lite -

The Uno and Duo Lite are identical to the Uno and Duo, except that they do not come with speakers. Some schools prefer the Uno or Duo Lite because they prefer to run sound through an already installed system. Also, some rooms may not be able to support the main module’s weight if the speakers are attached. The Lite is also an effective solution in this instance.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

What applications are packaged with the Lü Interactive?

The hardware sets the stage and provides immersion, but it’s the software that engages students. There are more than 40 applications already, and more are planned for the future. Here are a few your teachers will be able to choose from:[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width="1/2"][vc_column_text]

Newton -

Newton is one of the Lü’s most popular applications, which is why it’s recently undergone a major update. With Newton, students must solve mental math questions by throwing balls at the right answer.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width="1/2"][vc_column_text]

Groove -

Groove allows teachers to introduce dance fitness into their lessons. With Groove, teachers put together sequences of dance moves and then play them for students to follow along. The dance is performed by a character on screen, so students have a guide.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width="1/2"][vc_column_text]

Worlds -

Worlds provides colorful imagery for teachers to use for immersion. For example, with Worlds, students can play dodgeball in space, pretend to swim under the sea, or compete in a massive sports arena.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width="1/2"][vc_column_text]

Phys -

With Phys, students are required to navigate Mozart the Mouse to his cheese. Each Phys level represents a physics-based puzzle that students must interact with to help Mozart. Like with Newton, Phys engages students mentally and physically.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width="1/2"][vc_column_text]

Dojo -

Dojo is a simple but effective warm-up application that prompts students to cycle through a handful of exercises. Each exercise is represented on a card that’s revealed one at a time, so students must stay focused to keep up.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width="1/2"][vc_column_text]

Teams -

Splitting students into teams is time consuming and often chaotic. With the Teams application, though, it can be done in an orderly fashion. Multiple characters are represented on screen, and when interacted with, they display a random number that can be used to separate students into teams.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]Whether your district is building a new school with a gymnasium or repurposing an old gym, the Lü Interactive can get your students moving while promoting learning and engaging with a new kind of physical education - one that uses imagery, interactivity and immersion.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
